frontend-design (Anthropic)

Official Anthropic coding agent skill for creating distinctive, high-taste frontend web interfaces without generic AI aesthetic slop.

frontend-design (Anthropic) Preview

Overview

frontend-design is the official design intelligence skill created by Anthropic for AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Pi, Codex). It instructs AI agents to avoid generic, repetitive "AI slop" designs (like purple gradients and floating mesh backgrounds) and instead apply bespoke typography, intentional color palettes, and thoughtful spatial composition.

Key Features

  • 🎯 Anti-Slop Directives: Explicitly steers AI away from templated generic patterns toward memorable, distinct visual identities.
  • 📐 Typography-First Approach: Pairs display and body typefaces deliberately to establish clear narrative hierarchy.
  • 🎨 Restrained Palette Architecture: Enforces disciplined 4-6 color palettes with high-contrast functional roles.
  • 🛠️ Seamless Agent Integration: Works natively with Claude Code, Pi, and AI coding CLI workflows via npx skills add.

Installation & Quick Start

Install via the public Skills CLI:

npx skills add anthropics/skills@frontend-design

Example Agent Usage

# Run Claude Code or Pi with the skill active
pi "Redesign our hero section using the frontend-design skill"

When to Choose

  • Ideal For: Developers and founders using AI coding agents to generate landing pages, portfolios, and web apps with genuine human designer taste.
  • Alternatives: Pair with design-taste-frontend for strict variance/motion dial configurations.
